Do

grade chemical peels are another method of exfoliating the skin,
but rather than mechanically debrading with microdermabrasion,
peels work from underneath the skin. The topmost dead layer

A chemical
facial peel uses enzymes, acids, and exfoliating agents to remove
the dead layers of the skin. Chemical facial peels come in a
wide range of strengths and varieties for certain skin types.
Light peels include alphahydroxy (AHA) acids (glycolic, salicylic
and lactic) and fruit acids (cherry, mango, pumpkin, tomato).
These are used to reduce fine lines, even skin tone, diminish
the appearance of acne scars and improve skin texture. Medium
peels, such as Jessner's, trichloacetic acid (TCA) and higher
concentration glycolic and lactic acids can produce dramatic
results in reducing wrinkles, improving uneven pigmentation,
reducing excessive oils and removing blackheads.
There is usually no downtime to a chemical peel, although the
skin may be slightly red for a few days. Medium-depth peels
usually result in a sloughing and flaking of the skin within
three to five days. The type of peel that is best for you is
determined by a Medical Aesthetics Nurse or aesthetician after
a full evaluation and skin analysis. And some chemical peels
can be used on the neck, chest, hands, arms, shoulders, and
legs, not just on the face!
